Could Americans See More Stimulus Money? The IRS is tasked with submitting these incentive payments, and most of them have already been distributed. The agency will send the checks well into the summer of 2021. As a result, some Americans are still waiting for all or part of their payment.
For those who have already received their money, the question remains whether another stimulus check will be approved this year or whether there will be an end of stimulus check update in 2021.
IRS is still sending business checks for 2021
Although the IRS began sending checks months ago, in a recent stimulus update, many more deposits, and direct payments are still being sent.
Plus-up payments:
In fact, it wasn’t until July 21, 2021, that the IRS announced that it had an additional 2.2 million of that money for people who had not received any prior payments, as well as for people who owed “Plusup” payments. Plus-up payments are additional stimulus checks for people who received less than the total amount due on their first payment.
The IRS is still transferring payments to people’s bank accounts to process a backlog on 2020 tax returns.
The agency uses the data from the tax return to determine who is entitled to a payment and what amount is due owes to each person or family. If a taxpayer has a new family member that they notified the IRS about on their 2020 tax return, or if their income has decreased compared to the previous tax year, this could qualify for an additional payment. On the other hand, if someone recently filed taxes for the first time, their 2020 statement may have been the first to provide the IRS with the information they need to even make a payment.
The IRS has stated that the COVID19 pandemic has caused delays in the processing of returns in 2020. Until the agency has processed all the backlog, stimulus checks will continue to be issued if tax returns show they are due.
Will more checks be sent in 2021?
In a recent stimulus update, for those who have already received the entire American Rescue Plan Act stimulus payment, a fourth check is unlikely to arrive.
Under current economic conditions, according to the stimulus check update, a fourth review is unlikely as there is no bipartisan support for it. Democrats would have to try to cross party lines through a procedural process called reconciliation, which can only be used a limited number of times. With left-wing lawmakers focused on using reconciliation to pass infrastructure laws, another stimulus package is unlikely.
However, if the delta variant continues to spread and mitigation measures such as bans become necessary, the legislature would likely have to issue a new stimulus control. When the first lockdowns occurred in March 2020, Republicans and Democrats came together to provide quick relief, knowing that lawmakers knew they couldn’t ask Americans to stay home without helping them pay their bills.
In a recent stimulus update, the only people who will receive a stimulus check in the remainder of 2021 are those who are still waiting for payments due on previous ancillary bills.
